-----Description of Podcast-----

The owners and the players could not reach a deal by the December 1, 2021 deadline. So, the owners of MLB made a move: to lockout the offseason from not having negotiations for free agents to teams not being able to talk with players. Plus, the rising unions and strikes that are occurring in the U.S. are giving reason as to why the lockout may be just more than the owners’ unwillingness to cooperate.

The Half Hour is a current events podcast designed with the intention of helping Extemp competitors (and other Speech and Debate members, as well as listening for the general public) understand the importance of political, social, or economical events on a domestic and international scale. As Extemp competitors only have half an hour to prep a speech, the podcast is designed to brief competitors in the same amount of time it would take for them to prep.
